Tonight was brilliant. We’re in Los Angeles, rehearsing for VidCon. It’s getting late, and we’re in downtime while Michael works on music, and Ed said he could either eat or watch Netflix and he didn’t want to do either, so did I want to go for a walk? Accompanied by Liam, the three of us walked to the nearest gas station and bought slushies (it’s the latest I’ve ever drunk a slushie) and then we sat under an underpass and daydreamed about lives better than our own. We watched trucks and police cars drive past (“that’s the policiest car I’ve ever seen”) and talked about art and production and growing up and god the slushies were amazing. Plato had this theory about forms, where he said every item has a Form which is the idealised perfect state of that object, and the Forms of everything exist in a higher plane which serves as a more fundamental reality than the one we have now. So when we experience a laptop, we’re using a version of the model of a laptop, but on a higher plane there exists the Form of a laptop, the perfect laptop, the idealised laptop. I swear that slushie was the Form of a slushie.Philosophy in California
